Reduces the chromosome number from diploid to hapliod
Diploid Cells: A cell that contains two sets of chromosomes ( one set donated from each parent) Hapliod Cells: A cell containging one set of chromosomes
Preceded by chromosome duplication, cell divided twice to form four daughter cells
Meiosis 1 (First Cell Divison)
1. Seperates each homologous pair
2. Produces two daughter cells, each with one set of chromosomes

Meiosis 2 (Second Cell Divison)
1. Sister chromatids of each chromosome seperates
2. The result is total of four haploid cell
